Embark on a condensed yet profoundly rich African adventure that bridges two iconic landscapes. This journey takes you from the vast, wildlife-crammed caldera of Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater—often called the ‘Garden of Eden’—to the lush, echoing canopy of Uganda’s Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world.

In just five days, you’ll witness the full spectrum of African beauty. Stand on the edge of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, teeming with iconic savannah wildlife. Then, travel to where the air is thick with the calls of birds and primates, for an intimate, heart-pounding encounter with our charismatic chimpanzee cousins. This is more than a safari; it’s a journey through time, tracing the steps of early mankind at Olduvai Gorge and connecting with the living ancestors of our own family tree.

Highlights

  • Witness the Ngorongoro Spectacle: Descend into the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera for a full day of game viewing in a natural amphitheater bustling with lions, elephants, rhinos, and massive herds of wildebeest.
  • Come Face-to-Face with Chimpanzees: Trek through the dense, green heart of Kibale Forest for a privileged hour observing a habituated chimpanzee community—an unforgettable encounter filled with playful antics and striking familiarity.
  • Walk Through History: Visit the legendary Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites on Earth, and stand at the 'Cradle of Mankind.'
  • Experience Local Culture: Immerse yourself in the vibrant local life with a guided nature walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community project rich in birdlife and Ugandan hospitality.
  • Seamless Cross-Country Travel: Enjoy a hassle-free transition from the plains of Tanzania to the forests of Uganda with an included inter-country flight.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the Olduvai Gorge Museum, a fascinating stop that tells the story of our earliest ancestors. We'll return to the lodge in the evening, filled with memories of a truly spectacular day.

Day 3: A Fond Farewell to Tanzania, Hello Uganda!

Enjoy one last morning game drive in Tanzania, a perfect chance to see the "early risers" of the savannah. After breakfast, we'll drive to Arusha to catch your flight to Uganda. Upon landing at Entebbe International Airport, you'll be greeted by your Ugandan guide who will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation for a good night's rest. As we approach, the majestic Rwenzori Mountains (the "Mountains of the Moon") come into view. This afternoon, we'll stretch our legs on a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This community-run project is a haven for birds and monkeys, and a wonderful opportunity to connect with local culture in a nearby village. We'll check into our lodge near the forest as the sun sets.

Day 5: The Magic of Chimpanzee Trekking & Departure

This is the day you've been waiting for! After an early breakfast, we'll head to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting off into Kibale Forest. The trek itself is an adventure—listening for hoots and following rustles in the canopy until you find them. Watching a community of chimpanzees feed, play, and interact is a humbling and joyous experience you will carry with you forever.
