Experience the Machame Route: Kilimanjaro’s Scenic “Whiskey” Trail Embrace the challenge and breathtaking beauty of the Machame Route, one of the most beloved paths to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Affectionately nicknamed the “Whiskey Route” for its more rugged and adventurous character compared to the “Coca-Cola” Marangu Route, Machame offers a gradual ascent that maximizes your chances of acclimatization.
This journey is a feast for the eyes, leading you through ever-changing landscapes—from lush, verdant rainforests to vast, open moorlands. Your reward for the steady climb is the moment you emerge onto the Shira Plateau, where wide, awe-inspiring views of the Kibo summit and the dramatic Western Breach unfold before you. While it’s a popular choice, Machame sees fewer crowds than the Marangu route, offering a greater sense of solitude and connection with the majestic African wilderness.

(Please note, it's cheaper to land in Kenya than in Tanzania). There will be dinner and an overnight stay at Arusha Tourist Inn Hotel which is a Bed and breakfast.
