Get ready for stories you’ll tell for a lifetime.

Highlights

  • An Hour with the Giants: Experience the profound thrill of a full hour in the presence of a wild mountain gorilla family in the mystical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
  • Walk with Chimps: Trek through Kibale Forest, the 'Primate Capital of the World,' to observe playful chimpanzees in their natural canopy.

Day 1: Into the Primate Capital

Your adventure begins as we pick you up from your accommodation in Kampala. We'll journey west, the urban landscape gradually giving way to lush green countryside. By afternoon, you'll arrive at your comfortable camp at the edge of Kibale National Park. Settle in, breathe the fresh forest air, and listen to the first calls of the wild—a gentle introduction to the days ahead.

Driving time: Approx. 6.5 hours

Day 2: Chimpanzees & Community Walks

After a hearty breakfast, we head into Kibale Forest for our chimpanzee tracking adventure. As you walk, your guide will help you spot not only our charismatic chimp cousins but also a variety of other primates, colourful birds, and butterflies. The afternoon is for the community; we'll take a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland, a beautiful swamp managed by a local project, offering a fantastic chance to see more wildlife and learn about Ugandan village life.

Day 3: Scenic Drive to Gorilla Territory

Today is a journey through some of Uganda's most stunning scenery. After an early breakfast, we drive south, passing through the rolling, terraced hills of Kabale, often called the "Switzerland of Africa." As we descend, the landscape unfolds to reveal the magnificent Virunga Volcanoes on the horizon. We'll arrive at your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a place steeped in gorilla conservation history, where you can relax and anticipate tomorrow's grand encounter.

Accommodation: Travellers Rest Hotel or Gorilla Valley Lodge

Day 4: The Gorilla Tracking Experience

This is the day! After an early start, you'll be briefed by park rangers before setting off into the dense, green wonder of Bwindi. The trek can be challenging, but the moment you lock eyes with a mountain gorilla, every step is forgotten. You will spend one unforgettable hour watching them feed, play, and interact—a silent, powerful connection that changes you. It’s a truly humbling and awe-inspiring experience. In the evening, return to your lodge to share stories and relive the magic.

Day 5: Farewell to the Wild

We enjoy one last breakfast in the highlands before beginning our journey back to Kampala. We'll stop for lunch in Mbarara and make a classic photo stop at the Equator line for souvenirs and a chance to stand with a foot in each hemisphere. We will drop you off at your preferred hotel in Kampala/Entebbe or directly at Entebbe Airport for your onward flight, filled with memories of the wild.
