Samburu National Reserve

Journey 325 kilometers north from Nairobi to discover the Samburu National Reserve, a stunningly dramatic landscape in Kenya’s arid northern frontier. Beyond these specials, the reserve is home to substantial populations of elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and buffalo. Over 350 species of birds fill the skies, from vibrant kingfishers and eagles to the unique blue-legged Somali ostrich.

The Ewaso Ngiro River is the reserve’s vibrant heart. This broad, sluggish waterway is fringed with giant acacias, figs, and doum palms, providing shade and sustenance. Its banks are a hub of constant activity, where crocodiles bask on sandbanks, hippos wallow in permanent pools, and herds of elephant come to bathe and drink in a spectacle of pure, unconscious pleasure.
