Your Ugandan story begins the moment you land at Entebbe International Airport. Meet your friendly guide, and together, you'll embark on a beautiful journey southwest. Your first stop is a traveler's rite of passage: the Equator! Here, you can snap photos and straddle the imaginary line that divides the world. As you continue, watch the landscape transform into rolling green hills, with the dramatic Virunga volcanoes rising in the distance. Arrive at your cozy lodge near Mgahinga National Park, where a delicious dinner and the sounds of the forest await.
Wake up to the fresh mountain air and enjoy a hearty breakfast. A short drive takes you to the park headquarters, where you'll receive a briefing from your expert ranger guide. Then, the adventure begins! You'll venture into the dense forest, your senses alive to every rustle and call. Finding a troop of Golden Monkeys is a joyous spectacle—watch them as they play, groom, and leap through the bamboo with breathtaking agility. You have a full hour to simply sit, observe, and be mesmerized. After this unforgettable encounter, you’ll trek back to your lodge to relax and recount the day's stories.
This is the day you’ll remember forever. After an early breakfast, you'll head back to the park for your gorilla trekking briefing. Then, you and your small group will set off into the wilderness. The trek can be challenging but is immensely rewarding, taking you through thick foliage and up steep paths. Nothing can prepare you for the moment you first see a Mountain Gorilla—the sheer size, the intelligent gaze, the gentle family dynamics. That privileged hour with them is truly humbling. Afterward, enjoy a well-earned lunch before a complete change of pace: a visit to a local Batwa community. Learn about their profound connection to the forest through song, story, and craft.
Enjoy one last beautiful breakfast overlooking the misty peaks. We then begin our journey back to Entebbe, with a heart full of memories and a camera full of photos. We’ll stop for lunch en route, ensuring you travel comfortably. You will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or at your hotel in Entebbe, marking the end of your incredible primate safari.
